Guglielmo Malato - Life & review



Guglielmo Malato was born in Pesaro in 1932. Mr. Malato was a teacher and headmaster at the Lucca Institute of Art "Passaglia" and headmaster at the Lucca Art High School. He was a headmaster at the local institutes of Art in Pisa, Pietrasanta, and Pistoia.
As a ceramist and painter has won recognition and has been awarded important prizes. His works can be seen at the Faenza International Museum of Ceramics, the florence Interational Museum of Handicrafts, the Pesaro National Museum of Ceramics and the Gallery of Modern Art in Lucca and in numerous private collections in Italy and abroad.

1952- Galleria "La Torre" Firenze (one-man show) INational Exhibition of Ceramics, Messina I XVI National Exhibition of Handicraft Works, florence (Mr Malato has presented his works at this exhibition in other years as well).
1953- National Exhibition of Ceramics, Vicenza.
1954- National Competition for Ceramists, Faenza. (Mr Malato has took part also in other occasions)
1955- Exhibition of Paintings dedicated to the antifascist movement in Italy, Leghorn (First Prize).
1958- IV "Modigliani" Prize (Mr Malato has presented his works at this exhibition in other years as well)
1960- National Exhibition of Ceramics, Lerici.
1961-lI "Dedicato alla Donna" (Dedicated to Women) Prize, Leghorn. (Mr Malato has presented his works at this exhibition in other years as well)
1962- VII National Competition for Ceramists, Gubbio.
1963- "Silvestro Lega" Prize, Modigliana I National Exhibition "Dedicato alla Resistenza" (dedicated to the antifascist movement), Marzabotto / International Furniture and Design Exhibition, Monza.
1964 - Exhibition of Sacred Art, Lucca

Since 1985:
  • has presented his works in group exhibitions in Leghorn, Pisa, Carrara, Lucca, Camaiore, Massarosa, Volterra. In 1997 there has been a one- man show at the Gallery "La Spirale". In the same gallery Mr Malato has organized a didactic exhibition with the title "Le Carte Magiche" (The magic papers)
  • has produced `paintings and papier-mache works for an exhibition dedicated to the City of God by Saint Augustine.
  • in 1998 has presented a one-man show for the centenary of the birth of Bertold Brecht.
